Zürcher Kantonalbank, recognized as one of the five most secure banks globally, has officially launched a Bitcoin and Ethereum service for its customers. This move positions the bank at the forefront of integrating traditional banking with the rapidly growing cryptocurrency market.
According to Global Finance magazine, Zürcher Kantonalbank is described as one of the five safest banks in the world.
With the introduction of this new service, the bank now enables its customers to trade and securely store Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). The announcement was made through the bank’s official X (formerly Twitter) account. Specifically, they stated, “As of today, Zürcher Kantonalbank enables the trading and secure storage of Bitcoin and Ethereum.” As a universal bank, Zürcher Kantonalbank is committed to offering its customers a comprehensive range of financial services.
This now includes the trading and storage of cryptocurrencies.
Starting from September 4, 2024, customers will have the ability to trade cryptocurrencies 24/7 directly through ZKB eBanking or ZKB Mobile Banking. For now, the service will focus on Bitcoin and Ethereum trading. However, there is potential for expanding to other cryptocurrencies in the future.
In terms of security, Alexandra Scriba, Head of Institutional Clients at Zürcher Kantonalbank, emphasized the bank’s commitment. She stated, “Our newly launched cryptocurrency service offers a high level of security and allows for the integration of other currencies and applications.”
The bank takes on the crucial responsibility of securely storing private keys for cryptocurrencies. By doing so, customers and third-party banks do not need their own wallets. Thus, they can avoid the complexities of managing their private keys.
